Common questions

What does a low-voltage integrator actually do?

A low-voltage integrator designs, installs, and services the building systems that run on low-voltage wiring rather than line power: access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, audio visual, public address, gates and turnstiles, and the structured cabling underneath them. AK Technologies covers all of those in-house rather than subcontracting them out.

Do you take on single-service jobs, or only whole-building scopes?

Both. Any one service line can be quoted on its own, and cabling-only or camera-only scopes are routine. The advantage of one integrator is that when systems do need to work together, the seams are ours to solve rather than yours to coordinate.

Do you work as a subcontractor on commercial construction?

Yes. On new builds AK Technologies works as the Division 28 low-voltage subcontractor, coordinating with the general contractor and the electrician so pathways, backboxes, and terminations are ready when devices arrive.

Can you service systems another company installed?

Yes. Takeover work is routine across access control, video, intrusion, and gates. We assess what is serviceable, reuse what is sound, and replace what is genuinely at end of life rather than defaulting to a rip-out.
