AV Engineer (CTS-D req)
AK Technologies is a Texas-based systems integrator for commercial audio visual, access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance. We are hiring an AV Engineer to design commercial AV systems and review contract documents on general contractor projects. Remote applicants anywhere in the US are considered; preference for Texas candidates who can work from our Austin office some days of the week. Posted 2026-09-28.
Key responsibilities
- Design commercial AV systems: audio, video, control, and conferencing
- Review subcontracts, specifications, and drawings to set the basis of design
- Produce signal flow diagrams, rack elevations, riser diagrams, and equipment lists
- Design rigging and mounting for speakers, displays, and projection
- Verify specified products are current, available, and compliant
- Catch drawing conflicts early and submit RFIs before submittals
- Prepare complete submittal packages per contract requirements
- Support project managers and field teams through installation and closeout
Qualifications
Required
- CTS-D certification
- 3+ years of commercial AV system design
- Commercial GC project experience
- Strong Q-SYS experience
- Strong networking skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Visio, or similar
Preferred
- Experience with Dante, Biamp, Extron, Crestron, Yealink, or similar platforms
This role centers on commercial AV integration. Experience mainly in live sound, stage production, or entertainment venues is unlikely to meet the requirements.
